Minimizing Our Environmental Footprint
A core goal at TSMC is to reduce the environmental and biodiversity impacts of mining throughout its lifecycle—from exploration to mine closure. Our operations are unique within the iron ore industry:
- We mine ore in Schefferville.
- Transport the final product over 620 kilometres by rail to Sept-Iles.
- Ship it to customers worldwide.
Each stage of this process has the potential to affect natural ecosystems and human environments. We take responsibility for minimizing or eliminating these impacts on the land, air, water, and local communities.
